Durango Park

Lush sonic textures, beautiful harmonies and great songwriting best define Durango Park. Hailing from Portland, OR, Durango Park has a gift for channeling the beauty of their Pacific NW surroundings into contagious melodies, carefully filtered through diverse songwriting genres, owing strongest tribute to the art rock of the 1960's and 70's. Rob Bonds and John Kwon, co-founders of Durango Park, met while in design school during the summer of 2001. Their mutual interest in music would eventually lead them down to the basement to make home recordings together. Katie Griesar, soundsmith and resident composer for Imago Theatre, was recruited later and would bring her unique brand of guitar-playing and sound-sculpting to create the foundation for what was to come.

Mixed by Tony Lash (Dandy Warhols, Elliot Smith) and Jeff Saltzman (Steve Malkmus and The Jicks), Durango Park released “early recordings” in January of ‘03. This short collection showcased the band’s depth and variety, from the infectious pop of “Picture This”, to the driving rhythms of “Carolina Girl”. Now available on Tiny Beat Records, Durango Park has recorded their second EP, entitled “One at a Time”. Recorded over the summer of 2004 in a friend’s home studio,“One at a Time” is their finest recording to date. Discover for yourself this diverse blend of sonic textures, ranging from epic Eno inspired rockers, to psychedelic country ballads. Durango Park is evolving into something quite extraordinary.
